Development Strategy 2010-2012
Our Local Area Development strategy for 2010 - 2012 includes
- Develop a best practice model for Local Area Development
- Develop and build on the collaborative approach to Local Area Development with MABS, NTMABS, Travellers, and related bodies
- Enhance knowledge and understanding of Traveller issues and culture within MABS
- Promote Travellers awareness of and involvement in MABS
Best Practice Model for Local Area Development
We undertake to
- Evaluate our current practices and redesign as required
- Work in new areas of the country
- Continue to monitor and support all areas where Development links are established with NTMABS
- Document feedback and disseminate
- Evaluate networking model and its impact in order to establish best practice and incorporate into planning future actions
Collaborative Approach with MABS, NTMABS, Travellers, and related bodies
We undertake to
- Promote and support local networking between the MABS and Travellers locally
- Disseminate to MABS information regarding local Traveller organisations and Traveller issues
- Disseminate to Travellers information regarding MABS
- Evaluate actions, document feedback and outcomes, and incorporate into planning future actions
Enhance knowledge and understanding of Traveller issues within MABS
We undertake to
- Prepare information on Traveller issues for inclusion in training for new employees
- Promote active participation of MABS staff within Traveller organisations
- Support Traveller participation in all areas of MABS
- Encourage all MABS to invite Traveller input in the development of their service
- Track Traveller involvement and highlight most positive actions
- Evaluate actions, document feedback and outcomes, and incorporate into planning future actions
Promote Travellers awareness of and involvement in MABS
We undertake to
- Promote and support active participation of Travellers within MABS locally
- Facilitate and support local MABS and Travellers towards successful inclusion
- Establish an advisory group of Travellers for NTMABS
- Promote MABS by raising awareness of the MABS website and publications, NTMABS website and newsletters
- Evaluate actions, document feedback and outcomes, and incorporate into planning future actions
