The 2012 Exchange House National Educational Achievement Awards took place on November 2nd at the Wood Quay Venue in Dublin.

The awards were presented by Minister for Children, Frances Fitzgerald T.D.

The event is an annual celebration of the educational achievements of Travellers, young and old, from around the country.  Nominations are made on the basis of educational achievements at second and third level. All nominees are presented with a medal and certificate of achievement.

This year was exceptionally special for National Traveller MABS as our own Nancy Power received an award for completing a Certificate in Psychotherapy and Counselling.

The Exchange House National Educational Achievement Awards are important as they highlight the educational achievements of many Travellers despite the drastic cuts to Traveller educational supports. The steady increase in the number of recipients over the past 5 years is testament to the commitment of Travellers to education despite such cuts in education.
