National Traveller Money Advice and Budgeting Service (MABS)

National Traveller MABS is the leading advocate for the financial inclusion of Travellers in Ireland. As a Traveller specific service, we advocate for the many Travellers in Ireland who cannot access affordable savings and credit and who rely on money lenders. We work to change policy and practice which excludes Travellers from financial services. We aim to increase financial capability within the Traveller Community. We work on issues of affordable accommodation and energy poverty.

We wish to recruit a

Financial Inclusion and Social Policy Worker

35 hours per week

(Three year contract: April 2023 – April 2026)

Key skills include strong research, networking and communications skills including excellent written, oral, and IT skills. Candidates must demonstrate knowledge and, understanding of the causes and impact of social and financial exclusion, particularly for the Traveller community and how community development led processes can help address these issues. Experience of working within the Traveller community is desirable.

This position is based in Finglas. As the organisation has a national profile, candidates must be prepared to travel and access to own transport is desirable.

Salary scale is currently €36,906 – €53,164 (including 2 long service increments). It is anticipated that new entrants to the MABS service will be appointed on the 1st point of the scale. It is expected, that all new entrants to National Traveller MABS will be appointed at point one of the salary scale. However, National Traveller MABS operates an incremental credit process for appointments higher than point one. This process is applicable to new entrants into National Traveller MABS. Incremental credit criteria, based on the competencies for the role, are assessed against employment history as laid out in the application form only. A request for incremental credit from a successful candidate must be made within the first 3 months of employment. The decision on whether or not to award an incremental credit is a decision made by the Board and is subject to the availability of funding.
